Results
SF Votes shows San Francisco election results by precinct and district. Counts come from the Department of Elections’ cast vote records.
- Write-ins
- Write-ins are excluded for now. The results download keeps the original write-in totals.
- Ranked choice
- We calculate each round from the ballot rankings. Write-ins are skipped and votes pass to the next eligible candidate. Blank ranks are skipped, repeated choices count once, and an overvote makes a record inactive when reached. Ties that require an official decision stop the count. Otherwise, counting continues to the final two candidates.
- These are our calculations, not official round reports. Apart from excluding write-ins, the count follows SF’s ranked-choice rules. Each area on the map shows its share of the same count.
- Multiple seats
- The candidates with the most votes win the available seats. The Seats view shows the current leaders and the gap at the cutoff. Percentages are shares of all candidate selections, not shares of voters.
- Record counts
- Records are scanned entries for a contest. One ballot can produce several records. These counts do not measure turnout or how many ballots remain.
- Turnout
- Turnout is voters counted divided by registered voters, from the Statement of the Vote. Precinct totals are checked against the citywide summary and the District and Neighborhood Statement of the Vote. Counts are preliminary. Areas with no registered voters have no turnout percentage.
- Ballot order and measures
- Races follow ballot order. Measure titles and links come from the California voter guide and SF voter pamphlet.
The map
The map includes precincts eligible for the selected race. Regional races show only their San Francisco portion.
Boundaries combine DataSF’s 2022 precinct map with district assignments from this election’s data. Parcel outlines show property boundaries over precinct results. They do not show how a household or person voted.
Surrounding land outlines use Census-derived county boundaries.
